About Reclaimed Brick

Reclaimed Brick

While known by various names (i.e., old brick, used brick, antique brick, salvaged brick, and recycled brick), reclaimed brick has become increasingly popularity for new residential and commercial building projects as well as remodeling older homes. This is due to it’s qualification as a green building material, it’s historical value, the beauty of the various colored clay from which the bricks are made, and the aging of these brick over time. Reclaimed brick is impossible to duplicate with new bricks processes.

These old bricks are found in 19th and early 20th century buildings from throughout the US; and since their bricks were typically made locally, the clay materials and the firing process varied from city to city yielding a wide range of colors and hues.

Local companies typically perform the reclamation process by carefully demolishing obsolete buildings, hand selecting the best bricks, cleaning them (excess mortar chipped off, etc.), stacking them on pallets, and making them ready to ship.
